During this period, two witnesses will appear and engage in a miraculous ministry.

Their identity is as yet unknown. Those who understand Revelation from a futurist point of view (the contents of the Book largely describe a period just prior to the return of Christ) also view these two witnesses as appearing in the end times.

Clarence Larkin comments: “Zerubbabel and Joshua are types of the ‘TWO WITNESSES’ whose work it discovered in severall sermons book be to proclaim that the time has come to rebuild Jerusalem and re-establish the Temple worship, for the ‘KINGDOM OF HEAVEN’ is at hand” (87).Author: Larry Cockerham.

Luke was a very careful researcher and writer (note Luke ), as well as divinely inspired in writing his two books, and he said there were two men at the tomb. The question of who the two witnesses will be has intrigued Bible scholars over the years, and numerous possibilities have been suggested.

John identifies them merely as the two olive trees and the two lampstands that stand before the Lord of the earth. That enigmatic description is drawn from Zechariah – Careful students of the book of Revelation will probably agree with Alford that chapter 11 “is undoubtedly one of the most difficult in the whole Apocalypse.” A comparison of many commentaries will reveal the widest kind of disagreement as to the meaning of this chapter.
